Multnomah Falls Devotion

God created Multnomah Falls with specific design, and an awesome amount of work (not effort). That beautiful representation of His creativity would not be as widely appreciated if it had not been for the specific planning and dedicated work of man. In Multnomah Falls I see the planning and work of God meshing with the planning and work of man to produce one of the most successful State Parks in the U.S. with nearly 2 million visitors each year.
John Wooden, the late great teacher and coach, viewed industriousness as the building block of success. He described industriousness as hard work through careful planning. Wooden’s definition of success is described as being the best you can be. To really be the best you can be (which is something we all should strive for) it will take careful planning on your part combined with dedicated work. What we must realize as we strive to become the best that we can be is that God, our loving Father, wants to mesh our efforts with his for a supernatural outcome. Jeremiah 29:11(NIV) says, “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Multnomah Falls is one of the most photographed water falls in the world due to the combined industriousness of God and man. In the same way, God wants your life to be as successful. He will make it happen when you mesh your industriousness with His.
God Bless!

Athletes need nourishment for energy and for strong healthy bodies. Without nourishment our muscles can’t grow and our bodies would start to deteriorate. It is written in Deuteronomy 8:3, Matthew 4:4, and Luke 4:4 that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. If you are only getting feed the word once a week at church, then your starving yourself. You can’t live off one meal a week. If you want your spirit to get nourishment, then you have to learn how to cook for yourself. We need to be feeding ourselves the word every day to maintain a healthy spirit. I guess a small group or bible study is like eating out with your friends.
If your one of those people who feels like something is missing in your life and you just feel empty…It is probably because your not getting enough word in your life. That’s the part of you that feels empty.
I think every one knows what the most important meal of the day is. Breakfast right. My suggestion to you would be to make sure you are being feed the word every morning before you start the rest of your day.

What makes an All-star. They have a desire to be great, they train hard and practice often. They have to sacrifice time to be great at their sport. If Micheal Jordan was busy trying to get the Highest score on Pacman on his friends Atari and going to all the parties when he was in High school. He probably wouldn’t have turned out to be the All-star he was. In the Old Testament All-stars we’re kings of Israel. Which the Lord chose. In Deteronomy 17:14-17:20 it talks about what is required of the kings by the Lord. He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold. He is to carry the laws of the Lord with him every day and study it, so that he may learn to revere the Lord his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees. And not consider himself better than his fellow Israelites and turn from the law to the right or to the left.
Well I don’t think any of us have to worry about the gold or silver but maybe the desire for it. To have an All-star relationship with the Lord you must be willing to sacrifice time and not get distracted by worldly things. If you struggle with making time to spend with the Lord, just think about the things in you life you could give up or cut back some. If you play video games for an hour when you get home from work orwatch tv. Cut that in half to give yourself half an hour with the Lord. Or maybe you just need to get up half an hour earlier ever day than you do now so you can meditate on the word.
The Lords words and laws are very clear if you have the desire to hear them. He has a straight path for us to follow. Do not get distracted by things off to the left or the right. Keep you mind on the Lord always.

As Athletes we get injuries, muscle soreness, and fatigue from pushing ourselves to and past our limits. We do it to make ourselves stronger and to win the big game. Even though it hurts sometimes, we endure it because we enjoy the reward. Life is a lot like this and our relationship with the lord. Life is really painful sometimes but we push on for the reward that was promised to us by the Lord. Some days you feel lazy and don’t want to workout or go to your game. Once you do though, you always feel good afterwords. I know I have my days where I don’t want to get into the word with the Lord but after I do, I always feel good. I never regret reading my bible or talking with the Lord. As long as we have the right attitude, we can push threw the pain in life.
In Acts 5:40 “and when they had called for the apostles and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. 41 So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. 42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.”
Now the Apostles had the right attitude towards life. They didn’t let their hardships get them down. If we can be more like the apostles, then no matter how painful life gets at times, we will think it is amazing and thank the Lord for Blessing us so much.
We workout and Practice at our sport to make ourselves stronger and better. If we want to have a strong relationship with the Lord, then we have to train in his word on a regular basis. I believe we have a spiritual muscle that we have to workout like the rest of our muscles.
